Katie Koerner is an adjunct faculty member for the School of Graduate and Continuing Studies. Katie spent two years at Western Illinois University where she completed her pre-requisite coursework and then transferred to the University of Illinois at Chicago’s College of Nursing where she earned her BSN in 2008. Katie went on to attend Lewis University where she earned both her MBA and her MSN in 2011. Five years later, Katie decided to continue her education even further and completed her Doctor of Nurse Practice (DNP) from Governors State University in 2016.
With nearly 10 years of experience, Katie has become a highly-skilled and successful bedside nurse. After working in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and eventually an Adult Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Katie expanded into roles that allowed her to gain leadership experience at administrative levels. It was these leadership roles that allowed her to find her passion in mentoring and teaching novice nurses and she has found a successful career in leadership, and looks forward to education nursing students and nurses at all levels.
