Dr. Mary Guadrón is an Adjunct Professor of Nursing and has been teaching at Olivet Nazarene University since 2008. She completed her PhD in Nursing from Binghamton University. Her dissertation research focused on patterns of knowing used by rural community health nurses, including spiritual knowing. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from Sage Graduate School as a Family Health Nurse Practitioner, where her thesis focused on primary care for vulnerable populations. Additionally, she holds a Master of Science in Educational Theory and Practice, a Master of Science in Information Science, a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, graduate certificates in Health Care Informatics and Online Learning and Teaching, and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. She is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) through the National League for Nursing.
Dr. Guadrón’s extensive clinical and teaching experiences span various academic and health care settings, including acute care, community health, and long-term care across the lifespan. She has held a variety of practice, education, and leadership positions. She has also served as an Ombudsman, advocating for the rights of residents in long-term care facilities. Her teaching, mentoring, scholarship, service, practice, and continuing growth have focused on improving the quality of health care in our global community and integrating best practices for effective nursing education. Her ongoing scholarship includes the development of distinctive nursing knowledge, nursing processes that facilitate well-being, and best practices for nursing education. Dr. Guadrón’s passion for lifelong learning and sharing in others’ learning journeys has brought her to her work here at Olivet Nazarene University.
