Dr. Stout has served as lead pastor of First Church of the Nazarene in Jackson, Michigan since 1987. His leadership places a strong emphasis on ministries of compassion and justice. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Spring Arbor University in Spring Arbor, Michigan, where he teaches church leadership.
In addition to his degrees, he did graduate work in Peace Studies at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary.
Dr. Stout has written for various publications and authored one book, Beyond Disappointment…Hope (Beacon Hill Press of Kansas City, 1994). He has served as a speaker and trainer for his denomination at the district, regional and general levels of the church. He blogs at www.philstout.org.
For eight years Dr. Stout was the co-host of “Master Design,” an international radio ministry. In cooperation with Trans World Radio and the Church of the Nazarene’s World Mission Radio, Master Design was broadcast in North America, Central America, South America, Africa, England and the Far East. During Desert Storm Master Design was transmitted from the island of Guam and targeted to the American troops in the Persian Gulf.
Phil and his wife, Carol, have three fantastic children, a wonderful son-in-law and daughter-in-law and four beautiful grandchildren.
