  • Program Description 

    The Master of Arts in Education: Library Information Specialist (MLIS) program is designed for current teachers seeking to become school library information specialists with Type 10 certification. As a student in this program, you will take courses that address legislation and other field-related topics, as well as specific school issues, resources, and populations.

    Our curriculum is infused with a focus on diversity to better prepare you to meet the needs of every student. The program meets American Library Association (ALA) and American Association of School Librarians (AASL) requirements, as well as the AASL Standards for the 21st Century Learner.

    This program incorporates current practices in the dissemination of library information and the use of media resources. The coursework addresses relevant legal issues relating to library information, including web-based and library operations.
