The ABSN for Paramedics program is designed for paramedics who desire to transition to the field of nursing. As a nurse, you will make a difference in the lives of others. You will be challenged and satisfied, knowing that nursing is more than just a profession, but rather a passion.
The ABSNP program provides students with a professional foundation, integrating nursing theory with skills required for nursing practice. Through the program, you will gain valuable patient care experience, critical decision making skills and confidence. This full-time program of study combines online learning with hands-on clinical practice.
The ABSNP program is a 69-credit hour, full-time, accelerated program designed around the traditional paramedic work schedule. The program consists of online instruction, clinicals at healthcare facilities, and onsite testing, labs, and simulations at our Oak Brook, IL regional center. You will start and complete the program with your class group in about 16 months. The curriculum is based on the mission, philosophy, and conceptual framework of Olivet Nazarene University’s Department of Nursing.
Graduation requirements include successful completion of the ABSNP curriculum, a GPA of 2.75 or above and 128 semester hours of college credit, which will include required general education and prerequisite courses. Graduates of this program will be awarded a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and will be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
The ABSNP program is designed for Paramedics who hold an associate degree (AA or AS) or baccalaureate degree in another field, or have earned at least 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university. Candidates must meet the minimum requirements of a 2.75 cumulative GPA for previously earned credits, earned a 77% overall, 75% math, 60% A&P on the HESI exam, and complete all prerequisite courses with a grade “C” or better.
