Marlys J. Bohn, PhD, RN, CNL graduated from the University of North Dakota in 2008 with a PhD in nursing. She was a member of UND’s charter doctoral class. Other degrees include an MS from the University of North Dakota in 1992, a BSN from Moorhead State University in 1988, and an associate degree in nursing from North Dakota State University in 1986. She also completed parish nurse training at Concordia College (Moorhead, MN) and is on the national parish nurse registry. Prior to becoming a nurse, Dr. Bohn attended The Salvation Army School for Officers’ Training in Chicago, graduating in 1975. She worked as an ordained minister with The Salvation Army. Dr. Bohn’s ministry has continued throughout her nursing career, which has included work as an intensive care nurse, a state health facility surveyor, a phone nurse advisor, a best practice care pathway coordinator, a breast cancer case manager, a hospital and long-term-care chaplain, and an educator in undergraduate and graduate nursing programs.
